    Edina – is a city in Hennepin County and a first ring suburb situated southwest of Minneapolis. Edina begin as a small farming and milling community, with many of the streets named after families whose farms once occupied that area. Today Edina has numerous retail shopping centers including Southdale Center, and a variety of specialty shops and boutiques.

    The population was 47,941 at the 2010 census. The city has a total area of 15.97 sq. miles. According to the 2007 estimate, the median household income was $76,805 and the median family income was $114,673 with the median age of 45.2 years. Many major highways run thru or are close to Edina, making it readily accessible to those within the Metro area.

    Edina has a reputation for being one of the most affluent suburbs of Minneapolis. Edina is the home to some billionaires, most notably Richard M. Schulze (founder of Best Buy) and the late Carl Pohlad.

    Most of Edina is in Independent School District 273. Edina has been ranked in the top 100 schools in the United Stated in academics, and is the #1 school in Minnesota. In addition, Edina also has 4 private schools.
